Abalone Shell

Abalone, often called abalone shell or paua shell (in New Zealand), is an organic gemstone derived from the shells of sea snails belonging to the Haliotidae family. These marine mollusks inhabit coastal waters worldwide, including regions such as New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Africa, and the western coast of North America. The inner layer of their shells is composed of nacre, commonly known as mother-of-pearl.
